Alpine Aqueduct Reach 1
Replacement and Resiliency Project
History
History of the Alpine Aqueduct Reach 1 Pipeline (AA-1)
Since its installation in 1979 and 1980, the Alpine Aqueduct Reach 1 (AA-1) pipeline has faced repeated damage from landslides, ground movement, and other geological hazards. These decades of recurring damage have shown that ongoing repairs aren’t enough to protect this critical pipeline. The AA-1 Risk and Resiliency Project will provide a lasting solution by moving the pipeline out of the active landslide zone, avoiding multiple major fault lines in the area, and securing reliable water delivery for decades to come.
This timeline highlights the major events and repairs that have shaped the pipeline’s history and helps to provide context to why a realignment is necessary to ensure long-term reliability and safety.
